Melvin`s Restaurant in Houma

Foods ok, nothing spectacular. Restaurant atmosphere/envirinment was the best part of the experience. Our waitress was fantastic. Seafood alfredo sauce tasted like the stuff you get out of the jar. Shrimp were pitifully tiny. If they would get a better chef, this place could be 5 stars. Definitely better places to eat in Houma....like that place on Barrow St.

Awesome venue for a wedding that my family had there. It’s cozy and you are on a bayou in the back patio and it’s very beautiful and the food is of 5 star quality

Been here before. We had the lunch special.Shrimp pasta salad. Only had exactly was it said shrimp and pasta. Kind of bland. Maybe I’m just use to a lot of other stuff like black olives and artichokes. Service was great. I will give it another try since all we had was the salad. It’s not on the main roads so need GPS to find.

Location is great, nice environment. Waitress was excellent. I ordered the Veal Morano(?), which was not too bad. But before that, I ordered a cup of Turtle Soup. That ruined it for me. My father used to make turtle soup, and sell to Country Clubs, Dorignac's, Schwegmann's, and mail order around the Country. I can smell it now. This turtle soup had no roux base, cane with a floating lemon slice, and the tip of a boiled egg. the boiled egg is correct, but it should come from the middle of the egg, so you can get some yolk. Then, there was the Sherry. It was way overpowering. Sherry should not be cooked in the soup, as the waitress should bring the bottle with her and ask if you would like some. If I ever go back, I will not be ordering the turtle soup! The soup is what the 2 stars are for.

I had the veal piccata which was absolutely delicious! The veal was cooked perfectly. Our appetizer was glazed pork belly. It was ok. A little over cooked and dry. My husband had mahi mahi. He said it was very bland and not seasoned. The service was very nice and loved the ambiance. Place was a little hard to find.

WAY OVERPRICED for the quality and quantity of food served. We had a large party so I had no problem understanding that the ONE waitress provided for a party of 29 was a bit frazzled. They knew we were coming ahead of time. Management should have given this poor girl some help. Overall very disappointed!

Melvins is a restaurant that i enjoy going to for a lovely place and good food. The service is always very nice. I had the oyster spaghetti and my husband had the chicken Alfredo. They weren't skimpy on the oysters.

If I'm going to be in Houma, I'm going to be eating at Melvin's. Great atmosphere/view with friendly staff. The food is hearty and filling.

From appetizers to dessert, everything was delicious and the service was excellent. Highly recommend.

Great cajun menu. I went in for some seafood but the siren song of the roasted duck was too enticing to overcome. It did not disappoint. The ice cream served in a hard chocolate shell cup with a blueberry coulee was slap your mama good.The beer & wine selection doesn't match the quality of the menu, but if you stick to spirits you'll be fine.If I'm back in Houma, I'll be back at Melvin's.

The food, the service, and the atmosphere were great!!! I had the corn and shrimp bisque, the veal maison, and the white chocolate bread pudding! I recommend all of them!!!! Amazing!!!
